A very good choice

Meadow High School is a secondary day school for students aged 11-19 whose educational needs cannot be adequately met in mainstream school.

Situated in the South of the London Borough of Hillingdon, the school caters for approximately 190 students all of whom have a statement of Special Educational Needs.

First opened in 1966, the school has subsequently benefited from the provision of new facilities for Science, Art, Food Technology and Design Technology, as well as a separate, purpose built sixth form building. These excellent facilities were opened in 1996.  In addition a new classroom was built on site and opened in September 2000 to accommodate an increase in roll. The school has several temporary classrooms which hopefully will be replaced following significant building work in 2013.

The school offers all its students a broad and balanced curriculum including full entitlement to National Curriculum.  The needs of the individual are paramount and, thanks to a generous student/teacher ratio, can be planned and catered for.  Classes generally do not exceed 10 and there is a generous deployment of teaching assistants throughout the school, led by our HLTA. Our teaching assistant structure has been recognised by NAPTA and we have achieved an award for this. It is therefore possible to offer students more individual attention than could normally be afforded in a mainstream school.

The school has achieved Healthy School's status this year. In order to gain this we had to prove that we were supporting the pupils in every aspect of their lives (Physical, Emotional, PSHE & Citizenship and Healthy Eating).
